Tea Latte aka “Lattea”

Though adults often do not get enough dairy products and Calcium in their diets, the number of adults seen chugging down glasses of milk are few and far between. The same can’t be said for coffee, tea and Lattes- just look at the lineup at any Starbucks location! Lattes can often have anywhere from one to two cups of milk per coffee, making them a great  way to increase the amount of milk we are consuming! Now that Winter is here why not warm your bones while strengthening them by making your own lattes at home? They can be made either with your favourite tea or coffee in two minutes in the microwave or on the stove.

On the stove:

makes 2 servings:

2 cups skim, 1% or 2% milk

2 Bengal spice tea bags (this can be done with any tea, I just love the thought of cinnamon on a cold morning!)

directions: pour milk into a small pot and heat on the stove, stirring every so often, until the milk just comes to a boil remove from heat, and add tea bags. cover and let steep for 3-4 minutes. Divide into two cups, add sugar or honey if desired and enjoy!

*to make with coffee simply add as much instant coffee as desired to the milk prior to heating

In the microwave: Pour one cup of milk into a microwave safe mug heat for 1 minute and remove being careful as the cup will be hot add tea bag and let sit for two minutes add desired sweetener and enjoy!
